Shark Attacks Hypothesis

The following graph shows the number of global shark attacks for years 1900 to 2009:

Three factors that may be causes of increasing shark attacks are:

• Phytoplankton decline (See graph below.): They are the bottom of the ocean food chain.
• Fish catch increasing (See graph below.): They are food for sharks.
• Increasing human population (See graph below.): Ocean pollution by humans are largely causes of phytoplankton decline.

Sharks are looking for food closer to shore and are finding it!
