Proof that Capt. Daniel Little came from Kusel area of Germany

The descendants of Capt. Daniel Little (b c1731 Germany?, d 10 Dec 1775 Salisbury, Rowan Co. NC) started the Capt. Daniel Little, Esquire, Inc. family organization in August 1978 at a family reunion in Hickory NC. This was the culmination of many years work by Lawrence Lewis (Larry) Little of Portales NM. The first president of Capt. Daniel Little, Esquire, Inc. was Arthur C. Little of Newton NC. A newsletter (The Little Bit) was begun in 1978 and Larry Little was the first editor. Family reunions have been held every other year since then.

Capt. Daniel Little Family Reunions:

1967: Portales, New Mexico. organized by three grandchildren of Daniel and Mary Bruce Little (Charlie Little and Cora Little Stewart of Portales and Isaac Little of Hemet, California). Attended by grandchildren of Daniel Little and George Washington Little. At this time these knew that they were great-grandchildren of Lewis and Catherine Odom Little, but knew nothing about Lewis Little's ancestry. Dallas Little had been doing research on the Little family and, through correspondence with Desilu Little Price of Taylorsville, North Carolina had extended the lineage of Lewis back to Captain Daniel Little of Salisbury, North Carolina. This created so much interest and enthusiasm that the group decided to meet every other odd year on the first weekend of August.
1969: During the ensuing two years both Dallas Little and Lawrence L. Little did research on the Little family of Union County, Georgia, and discovered that there were numerous Littles living in Union County; and certainly most of them must be descendants of Lewis and Catherine Odom Little. At the reunion in Portales, New Mexico the group decided to hold the reunion in 1971 in Blairsville, Union County, Georgia, and in the meantime get acquainted with as many of the Little and Odom descendants living in the area as possible. They adopted the name, The Little-Odom Family Association.
1971: Blairsville, Georgia. The group met a large number of local descendants of both the Little and Odom families, and gained a number of dedicated new members to the Association. These included: Betty and Randall Hunter, Winona Cook, Geraldine and Gordon Meadows, Lena and Ralph Thompson, Wayne Thompson and Ford Little.
1973: Springfield, Missouri. Several local family members joined the Association.
1975: Marietta, Georgia. Attendance 210. The group decided to hold the next reunion in Catawba County, North Carolina and meet as many Little cousins as possible there and try to create a larger Little family organization. Larry Little was commissioned to go to Hickory/Conover, North Carolina and try to find a local cousin who would work with the Association in organizing the joint reunion. Desilu Little Price had indicated that Arthur C. Little was a good prospect. A "leader" was looked for and a "Moses" was found.
1977: Hickory/Conover, North Carolina. Attandance 428. This was a joint meeting with the North Carolina cousins. The group decided to meet again the following year and organize a national Capt. Daniel Little Family Association.
1978: Hickory/Conover, North Carolina. This was a joint meeting of the Little-Odom Family Association and the North Carolina cousins. There were over 500 family members registered. A national association of the Capt. Daniel Little family was organized with Arthur C. Little as president. It was agreed to publish a family news letter with Larry Little as editor. After the reunion Arthur Little incorporated the association in the state of North Carolina as The Family of Captain Daniel Little, Esquire, Inc.
1979: Clovis, New Mexico. Attendance 199. This was a reunion of the Little-Odom Family Association. It had been voted to be in Portales, but, since Portales did not have an adequate motel, it was held in Clovis. A bus load of North Carolina cousins attended.
1980: Hickory/Conover, North Carolina. This was a reunion of the Capt. Daniel Little association, the first official meeting of that organization.
1981: Springfield, Missouri. Attendance 309. A bus load of North Carolina cousins attended this Little-Odom Family Association reunion.
1982: Hickory/Conover, North Carolina. This was the second reunion of the Capt. Daniel Little family association.
1983: Orlando, Florida. Attendance 88. A bus load of North Carolina cousins attended the Little-Odom Family Association reunion. It was agreed that a reunion every year was too much, so it was voted to combine the Little-Odom Family Association with The Family of Captain Daniel Little, Esquire, Inc., adopt the name of the national organization and meet every other odd year.
1985: Russellville, Arkansas. Attendance 127.
1987: Gettysburg/Littlestown, Pennsylvania. Attendance 145. This reunion was held here to enable attendance by some of the Kleins in this area, since it was believed that Capt. Daniel Little's original surname was Klein and he came to North Carolina from this area of Pennsylvania.
1989: Modesto, California. Attendance 134.
1991: Hickory/Conover, North Carolina. Attendance 228.
1993: Springfield, Missouri. Attendance 235.
1995: Marietta, Georgia. Attendance 159.
1997: San Antonio, Texas. Attendance 130.
1999: San Diego, California. Attendance 143.

Parents of Capt. Daniel Little

Disagreements exists about who are the parents of Capt. Daniel Little. There are three competing theories:

Interesting fact: In the 1990 census the frequency of ocurrence of the Little surname was 0.046% with rank 226; of the Klein surname was 0.026% with rank 436; of the Cline surname was 0.020 with rank 595; and of the Kline surname was 0.015 with rank 770.

Four descendants of Capt. Daniel Little for whom he is the nearest common ancestor have been tested and have nearly the same 25 markers, so their 25 markers are the same as for Capt. Daniel Little. Two of them have exactly the same 25 markers, so those are probably the 25 markers for Capt. Daniel Little. For 37 markers they differ by at least one relative mutation; however, three of them have exactly the same last 12 markers. So the most probable 37 markers for Capt. Daniel Little are:

Another Little, Allen Wayne Little, who is not a descendants of Capt. Daniel Little, has been tested and tests as being related to Capt. Daniel Little. His family history indicates that he descends from the Kleins/Littles of Littlestown PA. So this results constitutes excellent evidence that Capt. Daniel Little is related to that Klein/Little family, as first proposed by Lawrence Lewis Little! The differences between the 37 markers for Allen and the others indicates that the common Klein/Little ancestor for all of them is:

The three entries in red indicate the uncertainty in those three markers. More Klein/Littles not closely related to these five need to be tested to determine those three markers for their common Klein/Little ancestor.
